About the Director

Kenrich Cairo was born on September 26, 1972 as the 5th child in a family of 8 in the town of Moengo. At a relatively young age he came to Paramaribo with his parents, where he received secondary education and then successfully completed the study ‘dental technology’. Far from his Maroon roots, he has nevertheless developed the love and the urge to know more about his origins and the culture associated with them. Because of the beauty, the depth and certainly the mystery within this special culture, he allowed himself to become informed on the winti teachings and lifestyle. The urge to archive his culture brought him, as a layman, into contact with 8mm video and photography.
